Greetings
The Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) in Northern Monthly Meeting (the Quakers
north of the Bombays) urges you to do all in your power to prevent the spread of war in
the Middle East, and to encourage the ceasefire in the current crisis.
Quakers are opposed to all forms of violence as we believe there is something of God, the
divine, in every human.
As the current crisis is generating a need for humanitarian aid we hope you, our
government and opposition, will work together to help in whatever way is possible.
As William Penn, Quaker and founder of Pennsylvania wrote in 1693: “A good end cannot
sanctify evil means; nor must we ever do evil, that good may come of it.”
And he went on to say: “Let us try what Love will do.”
Yours sincerely
