Presentation at Mt Eden by Alyn Ware, NZer and global peace activities
Alyn Ware, long-time peace action advocate at the UN, spoke to Friends at Mt Eden on 25 April 2021. Alyn’s inspiring and optimistic presentation is attached to the email version of this newsletter. He suggests that we can encourage Phil Twyford, the Minister of Disarmament to promote: exporting our Nuclear Free policy to State Parties to the TPNW (Nuclear Ban Treaty); supporting no-first-use and other nuclear risk-reduction and disarmament measures nuclear armed and allied states can take; and promote diplomacy and law as alternatives to nuclear deterrence.
Alyn is a Kiwi based in Prague. He is leader of a number of international organisations, networks and initiatives including the Basel Peace Office, Abolition 2000, Move the Nuclear Weapons Money campaign, Parliamentarians for Nuclear Non-proliferation and Disarmament, UNFOLD ZERO and the World Future Council. Alyn has previously been a Loxley Award recipient and currently receives funding annually from QPSANZ to enable him to carry out his peace work
