Aotearoa NZ Quakers submission on Crown Minerals Amendment Bill

Aotearoa NZ Quakers have rapidly crafted a submission seeking the withdrawal of the Crown Minerals Amendment Bill using our urgent submission process. The full text of the submission is available here.  The Bill promotes petroleum exploration and production and therefore reverses Aotearoa New Zealand's Quaker supported climate change policies about moving away from fossil fuels.  It is also inimical to Aotearoa New Zealand's international commitments.  The Bill has been accompanied by an extraordinarily short public consultation process limiting any meaningful engagement about its contents.  Aotearoa NZ Quakers have reiterated our post-Covid desire for a government which leads with integrity, shares information based on evidence, and engages with communities prior to decision-making (see  https://quakers.nz/ym/news/quaker-call-action-after-covid-19 ).
