76th Hiroshima anniversary marked at Dunedin's Peace Pole

Several Dunedin Quakers took part in an event to mark the 76th anniversary of the Hiroshima bombing on 6th August. The commemoration, at Dunedin's Peace Pole, was organised by Professor Richard Jackson from the University of Otago's National Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies, with support from Stephanie du Fresne of Dunedin Worship Group, the University's O-Taiko Drumming Group and others.

An important message from the event was the reality of the continuing risk of nuclear war, highlighted in the banner brought by Stephanie and pictured here.

More information about the event, including a video, can be seen in the Otago Daily Times report.
