Quaker Forum for 2021 at the Quaker Centre - 217 Ferry Rd

Due to lockdown restrictions, we will not be holding further Quaker Forum in 2021.

An Update on the Forum:

This has been another year when organising public events has been complicated by covid.  However, we're delighted that we were able to run 6 forums before the pandemic caused us to pause. We've covered a range of topics - social enterprise, community justice, housing, parking policy, pest-free Banks Peninsula and Christchurch as a national park city - and have had many lively discussions, forging new links between people and groups along the way. We know that there is a strong appetite for more and we aim to resume in 2022. We'll keep you informed.

About the Christchurch Quaker Forums

These forums are an expression of the long-standing Quaker concern for what we call 'the SPICES': simplicity, peace, integrity, community, equality and stewardship.

A knowledgeable presenter introduces the topic, giving a short outline of issues and questions. The floor is then open for discussion, which is the heart of the evening. Finally, more informal discussion follows over tea and biscuits.

We aim to hold the forums in line with our Quaker principles. We hold a brief silence before the presenter starts to speak. We aim to ensure that all those who wish to speak have the opportunity to do so, and that each person's contribution is listened to respectfully. Everyone is welcome.
