History

In 1912 Whanganui Meeting was part of the Wellington Monthly Meeting which covered the region from Taranaki in the north, Hawkes Bay in the east, and Wellington in the south.

In 1931, this grouping was rearranged establishing the Whanganui and Taranaki Monthly Meeting.

At the December Monthly Meeting 2017, the Monthly Meeting made an application to Yearly meeting to form two separate Monthly Meetings. This was approved effective by Yearly Meeting effective from 1 January 2018. The arrangement lasted until the 31 December 2022 but post Covid it was now practical for distant friends to attend monthly business meetings by Zoom and no longer travel 2 hours by road. It was agreed that Taranaki Monthly Meeting be disestablished and as from 1 January 2023 to become a worship group of Whanganui Monthly meeting.
