Taranaki Quaker Meeting for Worship
We are a small but lively group of Quakers who meet for spiritual nurture and friendship. Through quiet worship time, discussion and activities, we aim to encourage one another to live meaningful lives.
The common element of a Quaker Meeting is listening in silence to our ‘inner voice’ in the company of others. Different people use different words to describe this inner voice (e.g. God, spirit, inner light). Sometimes someone will stand to offer a message they feel prompted to share.
Whatever your background, if your seeking has brought you towards Quakers or if you are just curious, please be in touch (see contact details on the right). Newcomers and visitors are always very welcome. We are happy to answer questions about Quakers, meet up for a walk or a chat. After our meetings there is always time to talk and get to know each other more over morning tea.
Our group occasionally speaks up when we are in unity about an issue we are all deeply concerned about. We support each other to find our own ways to live simply, peacefully and sustainably. Quaker processes encourage us towards respectful listening, compassionate communication towards growing a caring, inclusive, diverse community.
