Winter Work Weekend
29 th May – 1 st June 2026

‘Now is the time for the burning of the leaves’, and the pruned branches, the smell of wood smoke and the crackle of flames. Marshmallows on sticks, children chasing around in the dark and coming back to toast by the fire, rosy cheeks glowing in the fierce, flickering light. Sparks light up the dark sky and with luck the stars will be twinkling. Which of our young sparks (and probably some older ones too!) and stars will delight us at the traditional concert? A loving, accepting audience will applaud your earliest appearance - a play, a poem a
song, or dance, the programme always different and our up-and-coming compères testing us out with riddles and jokes!
In between all this excitement, there are further joys, chainsaw fun, a little light weeding, chipping adventures, meeting old Friends and making new ones. You may be sure too, our old friends the tradescantia,             convolvulus, climbing dock will never fail to make an appearance. And do you dare to make the polar plunge?

You may prefer to help out in the kitchen or have skill in repairs or maintenance jobs – all contributions are
very welcome. Above all, come to enjoy yourself! We greatly value and appreciate the commitment of Friends who come to these weekends, and we hope they repay you in fun and fellowship, as well as knowing that you are making a significant contribution to the ongoing (some might say never-ending!) tending of the 17 acres of land for which we continue to act as guardians.

There is no charge for accommodation - bring the family
