Wellington Quaker History

There have been a few projects looking at the histories of Wellington Quakers.  Here they are collected on one page.

Wellington Quakers & World War I

To balance all the militarised centenary celebrations of WWI, here is a snippet of an alternative Wellington Quaker remembrance.

Introducing Friend Connie

Connie Camfield, 'Born Pacifist': my first 100 years. A biography by Elizabeth Plumbridge.

1961-62 Annual Report of Wellington Young Friends

A copy of this report, typed (not very well) on a standard manual typewriter of the 1960s, was found by Liz Bridgeman in 2021 amongst her papers. It is unsigned and had editorial mark up so was probably a draft. Liz would have been in the then 6th and 7th Forms over this period. Liz has submitted the report as a slice of Wellington Meeting history. Possibly it will stimulate Friends' memories of that time, which can also be submitted to these history pages.

The Earthquake Strengthening of Friends House

This booklet records the major project undertaken between mid-2011 and mid-2016 to seismically strengthen the Quaker Meeting House in Wellington to meet the updated Building Act.
